Over $9M Investment Enhances Lloydminster Health Facilities
Patients, residents, and health-care staff in the Lloydminster area are benefitting from $9 million in funding by the Government of Saskatchewan for infrastructure improvement projects at health-care facilities in the community.
“The Government of Saskatchewan works closely with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and our counterparts in Alberta to provide consistent, quality health-care services for all residents of the Lloydminster area,” Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill said. “These investments demonstrate our ongoing commitment to residents in the area now and into the future.”
“These investments address much-needed maintenance and upgrades to aging infrastructure. They breathe new life into our facilities while ensuring safe, secure spaces for patients, residents, visitors, physicians, and staff,” said Julia Pemberton, Vice-President, Integrated Northern Health, Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).
Several projects are complete, with more underway or in the planning stages over the next 12 to 18 months. The projects focus is on priority maintenance and improving spaces for care, including the addition of a new healing space at the Lloydminster Hospital.

Investments in infrastructure support patient and staff safety and comfort, enhance service delivery, improve accessibility, and ensure the efficient and reliable operation of equipment.
The Ministry of Health is also providing Lloydminster with $342,000 in one-time funding to purchase surgical equipment. The funding will help expand surgical volumes, reduce operating room down time and maintain patient safety.
In addition, the new dialysis unit project received $6.2 million in funding from the Alberta Government’s Rural Health Facilities Revitalization Program. The new unit, located in the Community Services Building, can now accommodate 24 patients in the Lloydminster area.
“The new renal dialysis centre in Lloydminster is a significant enhancement to the city’s health-care services,” Alberta Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services Matt Jones said. “It will improve patient outcomes and ensure that both Saskatchewanians and Albertans have access to high-quality care closer to home.”
Alberta Health Services will operate the dialysis unit in collaboration with the SHA.
