Courtyard renewal a symbol of “Our Commitment”
New to Regina General Hospital (RGH), the updated courtyard provides a vibrant space to promote healing, connection, and inclusivity. Funded by the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, the renewed space reflects the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s (SHA) commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and follows the SHA’s CARES values outlined in “Our Commitment to Each Other” of treating everyone with kindness, dignity and empathy.
RGH staff, patients, families, and SHA Patient Family Partners collaborated to reimagine the courtyard space to make it welcoming and inclusive.
Enhanced by better lighting, accessible seating, lush greenery, and a children’s chalkboard bench, every element was carefully selected. The courtyard is meant to be a safe, welcoming place where anyone can find comfort in challenging times.
The courtyard features a large mural titled An Adventure in Healing, by local artist Harley Sinclair, alongside We are Partners in Care, a four-piece mural series that represents the SHA’s Philosophy of Care.
New accessible picnic tables have been installed beneath An Adventure in Healing, a vibrant mural by Harley Sinclair. We Are Partners in Care, a collaborative mural project coordinated by Sinclair, features pieces (L-R): The Spirit Stands Strong by Harley Sinclair, Rooted by Geanna Dunbar, Messages of Love by Jamie Reynolds and Cristian Barreno, and Whispers of the Prairie: Healing Through Resilience by Ingrid Van Opstal-Tamez.
