AIMS story: System construction in progress
Drivers know road construction is needed to keep our roads in good driving condition. More than 50,000 health-system employees are undertaking similar maintenance by navigating critical systems used to support human resources, finance, supply chain management, business reporting, time entry and scheduling.
“AIMS is creating a single modern and secure system that is better integrated to support the day-to-day work of health care,” said Mark Anderson, 3sHealth CEO and AIMS Co-sponsor. “It’s an opportunity for the Saskatchewan health-care system to be in the driver’s seat of change.”
Before AIMS, a patchwork of over 80 systems and thousands of legacy processes were supporting important business operations. Some systems were up to 50 years old and could not be easily integrated with newer technology. Others, like the iHRIS human resources platform, are no longer supported by the original vendor. Some are scheduled to be discontinued by December of 2025, such as the Environment for Scheduling Personnel (ESP) for provincial scheduling.
Since launching wave one, there is greater visibility into the system which was not possible before AIMS.
