Supporting MS patients with care
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease which disrupts communication between the brain and the body. For patients living with MS, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a frequent part of their care journey.
Our MRI teams understand this, and they meet each patient with compassion, respect, and a calm, steady presence. Watch this video to see how staff create a space where patients feel safe, heard and empowered.
“We know that stepping into that scanner can feel overwhelming,” Amy Gagné, an MRI technologist at Royal University Hospital, said. “That’s why we take the time to explain what’s happening, offer small comforts like music, and just be present.”
Thank you to our MRI staff for turning moments of uncertainty into moments of connection—living our SHA’s CARES values in every interaction.
